Mana Pools – Victoria Falls
7 Days / 6 Nights
The WILD MEN, WILD WOMEN & WILD DOGS EXPERIENCE takes place at Kanga Bushcamp and the exclusive Ursula Camp nestled in the Stanley & Livingstone Private Game Reserve bordering the mighty Victoria Falls.
Mandy Young, Ecopsychologist, is your Specialist Host. She has spent many years observing the Painted Hunting Dogs under the generous and informative supervision of many well-known researchers and ecologists. Added to her repertoire are at least two decades of research and observation of the social behaviour of wild dogs, elephants, wild meerkats, white lions and mountain gorillas. The life lessons gained in these wilderness settings reminded her of Tribal ways and thus she has also spent time learning from the Bushmen and currently caps her Ecopsychology Research with Dolphin-Human Interspecies Interactions in Mozambique.
Mandy encourages us to remember our interdependence with nature and takes you into this wilderness place for your emotional wellbeing and so that you can be part of the answer to the survival of our planet. On a daily basis Mandy will guide you through a reflective time after each wild dog and wild life encounter so that you gain personal and professional take-home, enriching life insights.

Day 1-4: Kanga Camp, Mana Pools
The life-giving power of the Zambezi River makes Mana Pools National Park one of Zimbabwe’s most lush and flourishing regions, designated as the country’s second World Heritage Site and known as one of the continent’s premier game-viewing regions. Canoe trips are offered year round and provide a unique and memorable way for visitors to experience the area’s striking scenic beauty and diverse fauna. Guided walks in particular are a great way to explore the pristine riverside forests of Mana Pools.
Mana Pools lies below the Zambezi, where the river snakes along the Zambian Border. It is many miles from civilization. The Kanga Pan is set in the most remote part of the world Heritage site of Mana Pools – an hour inland from the Lower Zambezi River, close to the Chitake Springs. Here we are able to enjoy private safaris where the focus revolves around tracking a pack of Painted Hunting Dogs who frequent this area. It is thrilling to walk in nature to areas unreachable by car and get very close to the unperturbed wildlife in the area.
The Bushcamp is a small 12- bedded seasonal settlement built around a water hole, alive with wild-life as it is the only source of permanent water in the location. In addition to walking and game-drive activities, there is an opportunity to fish or canoe in the adjacent Zambezi flood plain.

Day 4-7: The Stanley and Livingstone Private Game Reserve, Victoria Falls
We arrive at Ursula Camp, a private, luxury Bushcamp within the Stanley & Livingston Private Game Reserve in time for lunch at the Nakavango Education / Conservation Project unique to this Accommodation venue. After lunch we are given an overview of the exciting adventure in the days ahead and soon after embark on a Game drive. The focus is on rhino monitoring. Refreshments and snacks are included on the Game Drive before we return to Ursula Camp for Dinner.
Early the next morning we begin with a Birding Safari and Brunch. A special guest speaker will inform us about the work in the Nakavango community. After lunch we enjoy the Nakavango Eco-club at the local school and participate with them in some Conservation Activities that benefit the Community. The evening begins with the exciting preparations to sleep-out in the bush with the IAPF. A real Out of Africa Back to Nature experience.
Early in the morning we enjoy the sounds of the bush and an educational bush walk back to Ursual camp for Brunch. We stop a while to Rest and Reflect before setting off mid-afternoon for a tour of the Water that Thunders. An expansive Buffet Dinner, at our own expense ( $45per person) is held in the Boma of the Victoria Falls Hotel, and with the backdrop of the Falls we are entertained with the traditional tribal dances of the many different Tribes that amalgamate in this trans-frontier border town. Late that night, exhausted but filled up with culinary and musical delights we transfer back to Ursula Camp.
The next morning, sadly it is our final Breakfast and time to check-out.
The Victoria Falls, ‘the Smoke that Thunders’ is a breathtaking site with the status of being a World Heritage. Unlike other waterfalls Victoria Falls has a natural catwalk running the breadth of her watery tumbling over steep cliffs which provides kilometres of spectacular viewing.
